Mary Walton
Mary was born about 1803 in Durham, United Kingdom.
She died on the 2nd August 1887 at Port Macquarie NSW
Details of her
crime can be found in the newspaper article about the trial. She was tried at the Northumberland (Newcastle Upon Tyne) Assizes on 23rd August 1821, with no former convictions against her, She was sentenced to death, but luckily for the family this was commuted to transportation – otherwise I wouldn’t be here writing this!
Her occupation was listed as Servant, we have no information at this stage on her marital status, education, religion, or her family.
Mary had two marriages, the first to Richard Voicey also a convict, one child a
daughter, Mary A.Voicey was born in 1834 in NSW.and she married a Wm Brown at Newcastle in 1858. Reg Number 2286)
Her second marriage was to Denis Kilmurray, they married after Richard died.
